The Soobie switch is the same as the 1600 i.e. made by the same ppl and they
even come in long & short barrel types. Bruce Ferguson has done it recently
and I though he would pop in to help you out but he must be asleep by now or
just busy (:- may be he'll read his mail later on.

You wouldn't know the switch is a Soobie one other than the key has the
stars emblem but you can't have everything.

Diarmuid,

Did you know that the 180SX ign switch is almost a direct bolt in? That's
what I'm using in mine.

Gotta love that Mr. Nissan bloke..

Subject: Removing Ignition switch

I have a lead on a new Subaru ignition switch to replace my tired old datto
one - thing is, as I can't get the old one out to take along with me to
ensure I'm getting the correct part - (plus I'll have to remove it to
install the new one.)
Two bolts are allen key type, with the hexagonal hole filled up with what
seems to be some sort of metal. I've tried tapping in a very fine bladed
screwdriver but the metal is too strong. Other ideas i've had are to epoxy
a small nut to the end of the bolt, or use the Dremel to try and grind the
metal out of the hole. Otherwise I can't really see a way of removing the
steering lock/ingition switch without seriously damaging it.
Can somebody tell me what I should be doing before I ruin what I've got?
Thanks,
        Diarmuid.
