I dropped my FJ into my 510 today (at last) and it's currently sat on the
stock 510 mounts but obviously this is too high up. Those of you running
FJs... what height does your engine sit at? I want to get it low for
handling but don't want the sump exposed too bad. Do you have the sump lower
than the crossmember? I figure on cutting the mount brackets on the block
and re-welding them. Also it looks as though it could go back a little as
the front pulley is only about 6mm from the front chassis member at the
bottom of the radiator panel.
Things are looking up too. A guy is selling me all the parts from an old
Datsun works rally 510 (not sure which one but it ran in the Safari Rally...
he has all the papers for it still) I just scored a pair of Bilstein front
struts, a pair of works struts, springs, two LSDs (ratio unknown) rear
crossmember and arms. etc etc etc Hehe apparently he still has the Safari
fuel tank .... great for long journeys, mind you... I couldn't afford to
fill it here!
Cheers,
Eddie
