My SU's were doing the same thing the other day after I decided to
replace all the rubber tubing. I had tightened down both of the air flow
screws (not knowing what they did) and at idle it was really rough, and
if I didn't pump the accelerator it just spluttered to a stop. So I
popped the bonnet and saw that while running there was fuel sqirting out
of an air intake/exhaust? on the SUs. I turned the screws back a bit and
the engine picked up and fuel stopped coming out. I then spent a while
getting the car to a decent idling level but it is still racing and
leaving heaps of smoke under hard acceleration.

I'm taking it to get tuned by people who know how to do it (Datspeed)
Wednesday morning so it'll be sweeeet for the DATNET cruise too.

Cheers, Seeyas then
Anthony

Subject: Weber Tuning - help!

Heyaz,

Just trying to get the carbs tuned on my 1200 and i have no idea what im
doing. Heres whats happeneing. Anything under 4000rpm it just has no
power
and spits and backfires out the carbys every now and then. Above 4
grand
power comes on fairly strong. It wont idle. And i also noticed after i
had
taken it for a spin that the front weber leaks. Fuel was just dripping
out
of the throats which i dont think is a good sign. Its is driveable at
the
moment but i want it running a bit better for this Sunday for the Datto
cruise. Any tips on what to do just to get it to idle would be great!!
cheers

Scott
