Zac/Cam,
I would have expected that as it's really essential to regulate the flow
when the oil is cold. The oil cooler in the Toy's is extremely efficient as
I've grabbed hold of the lines separately and the input nearly burnt my hand
off, it was so damn hot I couldn't believe it but the other side was
touchable.
Cam,
There would be a very small amount of pressure in a cooler I guess,
depending on the design. The Toys have a tube that is ~1/2" bent round and
round (bit like a curled up snake) that are surrounded by the cooling fins.
It is nothing like a radiator or a heater core that has much smaller tubes
than the input. That's why a heater radiator is totally bad idea that would
surely end in tears.
regards
Terry

Terry, now that I think about it, the Mazda units have a type of valve in
them
that keeps the oil from passing through the cooler when the engine is cold.
