The wiper motor from a 1983-87 Mazda 626 is a good
replacement for the 1600 unit. Needs a little work to
mate with the 1600 linkage (cutting and welding the
1600 1st arm on) and the wiring color codes are
different. This motor is noticeably faster and
smoother than the stock unit and looks almost the same
as the 1600 too.
