So what happens does you car just stop?  Or does it go back to a factory map?  Do you just reload the saved copy back in?

    The MT-8 did plus there are other's (microtech owner's) who have reported
    this problem. I don't think it's wide scale but it's known to have happened
    as I can vouch for

    Mines completely lost it's memory setting's twice ! and there are other's

    yes but they are a bit of over kill if you dont want to race. All top racing
    teams use either motec or autronic, they are great comps but very
    expensive.ive never heard anything bad about microtec mt8

    I would have a look at either Autronic or even Motec.

    The last time I checked (about 6 months ago) A basic Motec system was about
    $2,000.
    Autronic and Motec are very similar products, the main difference is that
    Motec is upgradeable.
