Ron from Ingleburn Steering recons its not worth it. makes it too rigid and likely to crack ive been in his ute and im still speachless so i think ill follow his lead for now, but welcome any discussion on the topic

So instead me and a friend did it, and it turned out a much neater job bc we spent the time to clean up all the welds nicely. as to whether it was worth it, I dont know but others may have comments from their experiences. There should be some stuff in the archives too, as we had a bit of a discussion on it last year.
