Speaking of SR20's Whats a VVL (and
timing) version worth. I was looking at one on the floor today with
very low k's. The guy who owns it is not too sure of its value,
although he does know its worth more than the average SR20DE, which he say
aren't worth much these days. Any one know?
Same guy has heaps of R32 - 34 Skyline bits
(rooms full). He picked up most from a container he bought from a
liquidator.
He is also building an immaculate R32
Skyline which was originally fitted with a single cam motor- no
kidding I was looking at it on the floor! He's
converting to a RB25 GTS-T spec engine and suspension - quite a project, as
the front cross member and steering rack also needed to be changed to fit the
new engine, but typically Nissan, the swaps bolted in.
He also has an immaculate yellow 300ZX TT with a
manual tranny an 300KPH speedo. Oh, and he also had a complete
front cut of and R30 Skyline with an FJ20T, lurking in a corner of his very
interesting shed.
He was saying the grey import business will be all
over rover in May 2002 for many of the current importers. Basically only
govt. accredited persons will be able to import vehicles they are licenced to
comply. To get compliance you will have to demonstrate you can build
to "MANUFACTURERS QUALITY". ISO 9000 standards will be mandatory and
"cradle to grave" record systems for all parts added and removed will be
required. He says its all part of a plot to slow down and limit grey
imports for local manaufacturers and get rid of the cowboys in the game.
He says no 4WD or deisel cars will come in. Get in quick if you want a cheap
grey import.
Good news is that Skylines will still be able to
come, but the bad news is prices will go up and waiting times will blow out to
cover the additional costs and work for accredited importers.
Oh, dont forget my VVL question.
