Justin,
I would guess that over 50% of 1600's still on the road have had the struts swapped left to right, usually to fit larger brakes/callipers etc. It's a lot of twoddle that if you swapped stock brakes around and you get improved braking one way or the other. What you do get from swapping the struts over is a lot more wear in your radius rod bushes as they were used to a pulling force under braking with standard rear mounted callipers and when you reverse the callipers you now have a much higher (due to better brakes) pushing force under braking. This destroys the inner donuts in no time flat unless you swap them around at the same time as you swap the brakes. If you dont do the donut swap then, you soon will be replacing them as the frontend developes a self steering attitude that is not nice. The insulators on the moustache bar are to stop NVH getting into the cabin. I get the serious drag boys would lose them if there was anything to be gained. regards, Terry > > LISTERS, > Has anyone rotated and swapped there LH and RH struts so the > calipers are in the front.
