gday all some of you might remeber me saying how bloody brilliant my brakes were since i found that little rubber grommet and stuck it back in its rightful place in the booster
well i still stand by the fact that the brakes are fantastic but and its big BUT - if im just driving around close in town then its great - but if i go for a drive say 20k's then the brake peadl seems to build up a little and then the brakes are sortof on all the time not stopping the car while the accelerator is on but i can feel the drag of them and when i cvome to a stop at lights and there is sort of a hil where i would have to keep my foot on the pedal - well i dont need to it stays ther by itself??? but it donesnt do it all the time after driving for al ittle more it seems to go away again I dunno could it just be pedal adjustment or what?? when i first get in the car in the morning the pedal has a tiniest amount of depression b4 it goes hard but after driving a little this smal amount of deression go away and the pedal seems rock hard from the slightest touch Sorry about the length Thanx Leighton ----- Original Message ----- From: "andrew smith" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Thursday, March 14, 2002 12:25 AM Subject: Re: FJ20DET fitting Kits > Terry, > Going on that calculation i would definately say that it is Nm.I have driven > many cars that have a higher factory torque rating than 245Nm and mine has a lot > more torque than that. The mechanical advantage of using 3rd gear with a 3.9 > ratio diff on a dyno can be huge when it comes to measuring torque. If i wanted > to work out the flywheel torque figure i could find the rwhp figure at the point > of maximum torque(228rwhp@5300rpm) do a rough estimate of what that would equate > to at the flywheel and work the torque out from there. > Andrew Smith > > Terry Rudd wrote: > > > Tom, > > > > I think you're on the money here. > > There are ~4.54 Newtons to a lb/ft and ~1.3 lb/ft in a Nm so 800 Newtons is > > ~245Nm > > > > TR > > > > -----Original Message----- > > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Tom Richardson > > Sent: Wednesday, 13 March 2002 12:38 AM > > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > Subject: Re: FJ20DET fitting Kits > > > > Andrew, > > > > Are you sure that's not 750 Newtons? 750Nm at the wheels would be > > enough torque to tow a semi trailer! > > > > All dyno torque figures quoted in Newtons are next to useless, you can > > only use them to compare changes from one engine setup to the next > > (arguably all that dyno's should be used for) > > > > The only way to find standard torque figures (Nm or ft-lb) is to > > reference the dyno sheet and back-calculate the torque figure.
