Alan,

We have to identify exactly which tacho you've got here, the wiring colours
are a bit different to what I've seen and wired into other 1600's.

2 x Blue wires? the 1600 SSS pulse tacho wires are normally white, the power
is red and the earth is green. The electronic type has 4 different colours,
i.e. white, red, green & black. One thing for sure is whatever type it is
both blue wires wont connect to the -ve side of the coil. Do the blue wires
loop through a small shiny plate with a long screw thingy sticking up at the
bottom of the tacho and the other two wires go into a rubber grommet in the
centre of the back of it? Do the blue wires have connectors on the ends eg a
male spade on one and a female spade on the other? I'm thinking you've got
an in series and the other two wires will be +12v and earth but which is
which.

Is it a 1600 tacho you've got, a 180B SSS tacho has 2 x blue/black wires but
the other 2 wires are red and green so I don't think that's what you've got.

If you give me some more detail that I've asked for I should be able to tell
you how to wire it up.

regards
Terry (anyone seen this wiring combo in a 1600 tacho)

Subject: Tacho Wiring

Hi yal.
Just got myself a SSS tacho (apparently from a GL, you may have seen the
ad in the ozdat classifieds). I'm not 100% sure how it hooks up, there's
two blue wires, a green and a black. Apparently the blue wires connect to
the negative terminal on the coil, but I don't know about the other two.
                                                                    Thanks.
