Yeah that would be right, Renault were the first to develop the pneumatic valve spring. It uses compressed air to return the valve to the seat. A normal coil spring definately won't work up to 18k rpm no matter how tough your mad hybrid L20b valvetrain is :) PS is that the documentary where they show the renault f1 engine on the engine dyno? would you be able to copy that for me? I will pay you!! :) I'll hop on mirc and send you a pic of the pneumatic valve spring stuff.
