Both the tyres you've asked me about are 4% under the original stock tyres which equates to the same as 1 ratio lower diff. Don't forget that the 1600 was made in the late 60's early 70's. The stock radial ply tyre is 165SR13 which in today's terms would be 165/82x13 or the stock xply tyre was 5.60x13 (Japan on 4J rim) or 6.00-6.20x13 (Aus models on ROH 4.5JJ rim). The closest tyres to the original stock radial that are commonly used are 185/70x13 or 195/60x14 or 195/55x15 as they're are only a couple of rpm difference per mile between all of them and the original radial, also the speedo was originally callibrated on the SR13 series tyres. regards Terry > Hi Terry, > > I was under the impression that 195/50 R15s were close to the > stock 1600 tyres?
