It sounds like fuel starvation. Check the levels in the float bowls - 23mm from the top from memory. If these levels look OK, adjust the jet hights under the needles, screw them down for richer and up for leaner. These settings really make a difference to all over performance but especially low down power.
More info on tuning SU's is on the net. Basically if you get the butterflies opening in synch, the fuel bowl levels right and the mixture jets adjusted correctly at idle, your set. This assumes the mixture needles are the right taper for the engine characteristics. ----- Original Message ----- From: "James Morrison" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Friday, 19 April 2002 0:10 AM Subject: L18 running like crap > having some probs gettin my L18 to run right just put SU's on: > tried tuning, re-tuning, advancing igniton timing, retarding it, changing point gap, re-tuning it, reckon its a manifold leak or maybe clutch > > like from idle when i rev it hard it'll almost splutter and die b4 it picks up and revs, and when im driving it kinda sounds like a beetle, and when i get the revs up and dump the clutch the engine bogs and almost stalls > > any ideas? > Cheers > james --membersozdat------------------------------------------------------- OZDAT Mailing List Please Note:- Send (un)subscribe requests to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Send submissions to [EMAIL PROTECTED] No unauthorised redistribution of this email http://www.ozdat.com/ozdatonline/index.htm http://www.ozdat.com/ozdatonline/listindex.html http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------
