Mark, I have seen an engine done up in an emergency that had seized pistons from water in the bore, all they did was rock the crank back and forwards till the rust freed up and then fit some new rings in a coarse emery (80 grit) hand rubbed bore. The engine had the ridge removed with a grind stone and then emery rubbed smooth. It ran well for one meeting till it broke the new rings. It needed a 2mm bore to clean it up. Cheers Feral Errol
