Mark,

Think of the number of cycles of pressure/force the brake lines are 
subjected to during the lifetime of your car. Although the lines dont 
'move', these (quite substantial) pressure loadings could slowly 
fatigue or harden the lines to the point of rupture if a material is 
chosen which doesnt have high fatigue strength.
