My mates old L series turbo motor , runs 40mm inlet valves (standard) and 42mm exhaust valves. are L & Z heads same valve size? if it was a twin cam head i would make it the last thing on my engine development, as i've seen hi hp out of motors with no porting at all. just different cams and the right turbo.
