[Terry Rudd] I think you are asking about overall width. With a double safety rim (as most modern wheels are) this distance is 1" wider than the rim width spec. The rim width is measured from inside bead to inside bead - so you can only measure this distance easily without a tyre fitted. If a rim has say 14x6JJ stamped on it, this is the distance that the stamp refers to and JJ mean double safety, J means single safety bead and they are just about extinct except on 50's vehicles with original rims fitted.and finally what is the distance from the centre of the rim ie where the hub bolts to, to the front of the rim? the part pointing out from the car?
[Terry Rudd] This distance doesn't have a particular name that I'm aware of.i am sorry this isn' the best description terry and other but i cant think of a better way other than drawing a pic.
