hi, if your doing a solid color in acrylic
laquer(not pearl or metallic), its always good to put on
around 7 or eight coats, or to allow your self enough build, to be able to
color sand (wetrub with 1500 grit), the orange peel out, and machine buff
to a nice shine.
if your doing it in metallic or pearl put
enough color on to get goood coverage, then apply 7 or 8 coats of clear for your
build.
you could use less coats of paint but u dont
want to worry about any rub thru, if your rubbing out any imperfections
out of the paint.
i have gone up to ten coats.
buff car after a few weeks of drying.
