Bob,

I'd get a second opinion - it needs welding in 12 places? really? If that's
the case then it must be pretty obvious even to a novice with naked eyes
that it's stuffed good and proper. Guides sitting wrong? That's a gooden -
worn out I'd accept, broken or even bent - but sitting wrong I just can't
picture.

You'd probably find another head at Pick n Payless or Dunkers if one doesn't
come up on the list - there's not much you can't find in those places, I
don't even bother to ring before I set out for a day down there from
Canberra, they're not good at knowing what's in the isles.

regards
Terry

Subject: RE: L6 Head Removal/Refitting

I just got the quote back for head repairs - about $950!! What a joke!!
They recon it needs welding in 12 places, guides are sitting wrong, etc,
etc, etc. Instead I think I will be fitting an entire new motor, or
fitting another head to the car. Does anyone in the Wollongong/Sydney
region have an L26 or any L6 series heads for cheap sale?
