Kris,
Check
for excess wear in the ring land heights. Look for cracking of ring
lands from seizing rings. Also check for damage from detonation or
broken rings.
The
back of the ring land should be cleaned using a broken ring as a scraper. Remove
any carbon but do not gouge the alloy.
Check
for radial gudgeon movement (not axial - side to side).
