The worst thing you can do to an engine bay is spray it matt black. If you look at most race/rally cars that have been built by professionals, white or at least a light colour is the way to go. If its black, you won't see cracks in the body,it's hard to see what you are doing, minor fluid leaks aren't as obvious and you won't see lost bits'n'pieces at midnight! And it looks crappy anyway.

The whole shell was recently painted, but i am not happy with the job they did in the engine bay, so i want to respray it in just a matt black so that i can easily touch up nicks and scratches later on... I gather i will need to sand back the previous paint to get rid of the gloss before i spray over it, is this true?? How far should i sand it back?? it was taken back to bare metal before the current paint job so i am assuming i wont have to go that far.. maybe just roughen it up a bit and get rid of all the gloss?? Also, what grade sandpaper should i use? keeping in micd i don't want to spend days preparing it for paint... Any help or advice would be great, Thanks heaps, Mark --membersozdat------------------------------------------------------- OZDAT Mailing List Please Note:- Send (un)subscribe requests to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Send submissions to [EMAIL PROTECTED] No unauthorised redistribution of this email http://www.ozdat.com/ozdatonline/index.htm http://www.ozdat.com/ozdatonline/listindex.html http://www.mail-archive.com/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/ --------------------------------------------------------------------- --membersozdat------------------------------------------------------- OZDAT Mailing List Please Note:- Send (un)subscribe requests to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Send submissions to [EMAIL PROTECTED] No unauthorised redistribution of this email http://www.ozdat.com/ozdatonline/index.htm http://www.ozdat.com/ozdatonline/listindex.html http://www.mail-archive.com/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------
