They shouldnt be passwording it. That would be like me servicing someone's computer then password protecting the BIOS on the grounds that my setup work is my intelectual property. Sounds like they want repeat work. I'd be more inclined to crown them with the computer than give them more work if they dont give out the password. The best way to do business is get them to set it up, go for a spin in it with one of the employees of the business, then sign a piece of paper saying you are satisfied with the work and that it tested OK. I suppose the problem would be with problems that only arise days or weeks later if thats possible. In that case maybe a password could be used but only for the period of the initial guarantee maybe 30 days or whatever, so you can bring it back to get any bugs ironed out. After that you are on your own and can have the password if you want it.
