I imagine the only reason the owners lost is because they didnt get the
right (expensive) lawyers that the workshops got. Without a fixed
service contract between the programmer and the customer thier argument
is pretty void I imagine - but if like you say they have won a few
cases then there must be something they are doing to protect themselves.

I guess an easier way arround it is to boycott the workshops that do it
- consumer sovereignty at its best. There are too many good mechanics
out there to keep pouring money into dodgey ones.
