Yes, Air dry enamel. > whats the deal with painting acrylic on enamel and vice versa? > > is it true that acrylic won't go on top of enamel? if so, what preparation > needs to be done to paint acrylic on top? not including sandblasting. Depends what sort of "Acrylic" you are talking about: Acrylic Enamel (aka 2K aka 2 pot) over Air Dry Enamel - no problems. Acrylic Lacquer (aka 1K) over Air Dry Enamel - Officially you can't do it. Practically you can if you are careful. The problem is that the Lacquer paint, especially some primers (especially Croda/Ameron!) react with the enamel, causing bubbling and blistering. Mostly on feathered edges. You can deal with it by: a) Dusting a couple of light coats before laying it on heavy b) Trying a few brands of paint - some are worse than others (perhaps ask around at panelbeater shops). c) Using an intermediate coat of 2 pot primer. Wait for it to totally dry before overcoating. --membersozdat------------------------------------------------------- OZDAT Mailing List Please Note:- Send (un)subscribe requests to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Send submissions to [EMAIL PROTECTED] No unauthorised redistribution of this email http://www.ozdat.com/ozdatonline/index.htm http://www.ozdat.com/ozdatonline/listindex.html http://www.mail-archive.com/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------
