hi, this is a little confusing but here goes............
you can spray enamel over acrylic or anything else, except beleive it or
not some very solvent sensitive enamels.

virtually the only two ways to paint over enamel safely is to first either ,
remove all the enamel , or give ita good rub, and very carefully apply a two
pack primer.
the second way will work , but not reccommend for a show car type of
respray, - .what can happen on a hot day, is that the enamel underneath the
primer, can become soft from the heat and move while the two pack undercoat
stays hard .
the movement underneath the 2 pak undercoat can cause the 2 pak primer
to crack., maybe.......

dont try (if you do this be very carefull) to use acrylic primer , over
the enamel because the high solvent content of the thinned primer (1 litre
primer to one litre thinner) can bite into and lift the enamel off , if its
applied even moderately wet. (two pak primer has very low solvents , approx
20 - 30 % thats why its better to use over enamels , but u still need to go
very slowly). when the job is undercoated, its very important that there is
no enamel showing when u apply the top coat.
you can buy a sealer ( cant remember whats it called , but use to come in a
yellow tin) but never had much succsess with it.

another product u might be able to look at is from PPG and its called
"scan ` sealer", i havent used it but i think that it would be interesting
to try.....

mark k
