What heat range spark plugs are you using?
Have you checked thermostat?
Did you flush radiator?

Subject: URGENT: Over-heating probs

Hey listers.... I finally got the L20 started in my 1600 (yeeeha) but
a
problem arrose that the motor got very hot very quickly, like within 5
mins
or so, the extractors were glowing red. Now, i have twin 40mm
delortoes,
series 2 bluey dizzy, i set the timing on about 8-9deg. i have the
standard
radiator running single 10" thermo, no fan on front of motor, pretty new
thermostat, There was a lot of fumes in the garage. Am i right to
think
that the carbies are WAY out of tune and its running extremely rich, or
is
it something else, i think we stopped the motor when the guage reached
197
F. (autometer water temp guage)
Anyone out there have any ideas, as i need to sort this prob out, cause
i
really dont feel like cooking a brand new motor... thanks guys.. :)
