I removed my restrictive muffler, so my FJ20ET was running an almost full-length, but unrestricted exhaust today. Go for a 10 min drive not over 3.5k rpms and back in the driveway and after sitting there idling there's clouds of white/blue smoke out the exahust. Shit i thought, no back pressure has stuffed the turbo.

The motor has been known to blow a little blue smoke now and again I thought previously this was valve stem seals, but most people advise it's probably turbo oils seals. Anyway after few minutes the smoking stops. If I shut down and wait 10 mins there's no smoke on start-up. Is this oil from the turbo feed getting into the turbo and burning off? I mean it is an excessive amount of smoke - no smoke t when I'm actually driving, tho I didn't drive away whilst it was pluming. 20 mins later I went for another spin - up to 5.5 k rpms no smoke on run - then heaps when idling down in drive way again. Didn't do this when the muffler was on, and I'll put it back tomorrow and see if there's any difference.
