Yeah - pick a groove on the tyre and measure the distance between these grooves on the left and right tyres at both the front and back of the tyre with the steering wheel at straight ahead. The difference is the the total toe for the pair. This doesnt tell you differences between each wheel though (eg if one wheel is toed out and one is parallel). It can be measured more accurately for each individual wheel by setting up stringlines parallel to the chassis, and then measuring the distance from the wheel face to this reference, like how race teams check it. The tricky bit is getting those stringline references correct.
