Subject: CA18DET won't start... again
Date: Sun, 16 May 2004 10:49:27 +1000

Hi,
It's just problem after problem with my car! I hooked up my surge tank and pump and got my fuel system all finished and looking good - but now the thing won't spark!
It turns over and has fuel pumping in, but it won't spark until you let the key back off the cranking position......
We checked the power at all the relays in case the 1600 barrel wasn't letting 12v through when in the start position but that wasn't it, power is there but it just isn't sparking..
It has done this before a few months ago when i was trying to get it started, and from memory all i did was take the plugs out and clean them up and then noticed that they sparked when i turned it over, so i put them back in and off she went. I've tried that this time but it was no help... it seems like it could be one of those annoying intermittant problems :(
If anyone has any ideas or suggestions of what i should try to get it going again that would be really appreciated. I am close to getting the thing on the road now, only not if it wont start!!
Thanks,
Mark Firman
