It wouldnt go easily into reverse. the bent pin is probably the case,
then, as i usually go into second and then reverse and it works.
But the main problem is it getting stuck IN gear. getting it out of
reverse and into neutral is hard. and usually the engine will stall
out before i can manage to get it back to neutral.

If it just wont select, then try selecting 1st gear from neutral and

try to select reverse - if you have a slightly bent or worn selector
pin then using this method to select reverse gear will sometimes
work well.

If you do the 5 second test and the reverse gears grate then yes
I'd say it's a hydraulic problem based on the pumping remedy -
pumping hydraulics

It's pretty easy to check if it's a clutch problem - start in
neutral, depress clutch, count to 5 seconds, attempt to select
reverse. If it
grates,
then it's the clutch operation (i.e. not disengaging for
whatever reason), if it just wont go into reverse, then it's
more than likely Errol is on
the
money with a bent pin in the selector mechanism.

just got a series 1 rx7. the gears sometimes get stuck in
gear.. eg. at traffic lights, you go to move forward a tiny
bit in first gear, and
then
its stuck in first, cant get it back into neutral. the same
thing
happens
with reverse.
Is this a clutch problem or a problem with the gear box?
