That part where he addresses the jettisoned dealers who operated in good faith, invested loads of money, and who are left holding inventory, facilities, staff, and customer commitments must have been cut out of my copy. And how the union gets their (large) piece of the pie. And how the president and US gummint engineered this whole thing in contravention of existing laws, e.g., a little principle called "due process," that are supposed to deal with these kinds of situations.

Did anyone else get that in their missive?

See here for another perspective, one that rings a bit more true: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124277581459836917.html

"Fairness in a law-abiding society is due process. In the Chrysler bankruptcy, the administration hijacked the legal forms for a political end that it could have delivered honestly by the government buying Chrysler out of liquidation and handing it to the UAW."
