I have refilled the tranny 2 times now, tranny fluid is leaking
somewhere. Is there a tranny cooler? It looks like some lines come
forward from the tranny that are covered with fluid. I have not had the
car up on ramps yet (I know, I know), just wondered if anyone might have
some thoughts on what a regular leak might spring from. Tranny shifts
fine, so I think it is OK functionally.
Yesterday I replaced the air cleaner mounting bracket (and the broken
one looked like a replacement as well, with the Benz sticker on it
explaining it was "Qualitat"), took off the 180deg turbo inlet bend.
The whole thing was all crapped up with dirty oily stuff, and the turbo
inlet seemed to have some oily gunk in it too, and some on the vanes.
It spins fine, but I was wondering if spraying something up in there to
clean it would be a good idea. Maybe some EFI intake cleaner or carb
cleaner a little bit at a time? I don't want to get the engine running
away or anything. I would presume it would be best to do that with the
engine running? Or would I do it engine off, and just vacuum or wipe
out whatever crap runs off?
Oh, and I just glued up the wood piece on the front of the ashtray to
the ashtray with some Gorilla Glue, it had been stuck on there with what
looked like black roofing tar. I cleaned all that off with some
turpentine, and sanded it all lightly, I'll give it a couple hours to
set up. 90F today, that should go quick.
Thanks....
