It is an LG that is some kind of a fake iphone type thing (touchscreen) Can it be unlocked so that an app will work without Canyahearmenow's $60 /month ripoff for data service?

 > She can get an app for her phone, but good ol CanYaHearMeNow wants an
additional $60 a month to be able to use the gps app. And we thought
MaBell was hard to get along with!

What kind of phone? On my Windows Mobile I have the TomTom software (<$40
with a dock for my Treo, which died long ago) and have been surprisingly
pleased, and no Navigon = no cell provider fee. It is a prettier display
than our old eMap (think that was a Garmin) and I'm less likely to forget
it in the car, too. Directions are more reliable than our Ford built-in,
and I think you can order updates from the TT web site. The new version
supports gas prices, traffic, etc. off the TT site but of course I'm too
cheap for that.

Eventually I splurged and got a dock for the new phone (from the Dollar
Tree) so I could hang it under the rearview mirror, but for a while I just
stuck it on the dash in front of the speedometer. :)
