Depends on your definition of "easy." For your average shadetree mechanic, I think the process of R&Ring the door panel on a 124 is pretty daunting the first time--you have to know a lot of little tricks to get it right without breaking any of the old brittle plastic bits. And the actual motor and regulator are not fun to get out in the front--lots of sharp edges. I haven't done a rear one recently enough to remember. Kevin's probably got an advantage here since it's the kind of job that's mostly done by feel! Re the other problens, the high beams are probably a bad combo switch like Jim said; changing it is a piece of cake if you have the right kind of long Torx driver to get at the screws on the backside of the steering wheel. Careful of the airbag, of course! Intermittent harsh shifting means an intermittent vacuum leak, probably bad climate conyrol pods if they are original. Easy to test (pull the lines off the switching manifold behind the glovebox and put the MityVac on everything), but not necessarily easy to fix (although if the evaporator's bad you don't have a choice if you want working climate control...)
