Cheap parts usually give cheap results. Rusty used to say you really
wanted a Bosch reman'd by Bosch. I certainly found that to be true
with alternators. Dr. Fatty wants 3x as much the one you posted. I'd
trust his.

That's the symbol for hundreds. In any case, the quality of a
reman starter would depend on the expertise of the company doing the
rebuild. Here's a cheap one from Suncoast Automotive Products - how
could I know if it's any good?:

I've replaced 3 starters with rebuild Bosch and not had any issues.
Whats the issue with a noisy starter anyway? Has he got a used one to
sell you?

Buy a Bosch reman. Can't trust used.

The starter motor in my 1983 300TD wagon is going down the tubes. This
morning it wouldn't budge until after I had plugged in the block

then screetches the first couple of seconds upon startup.
Clearly I need to do something - but what? My tech says not to buy a
Bosch
reman starter (says they're way too noisy) but instead to find a
"good used
one". WTF? What does everyone think? Will one from a W126 300SD
starter
fit?
