Are there no places out there anymore that rebuild your starter?
That used to be better than buying rebuilt ones at one time.
I know little about MB starters but the old north american stuff was
pretty straight forward and easy enough to fix.

I'd guess somewhere between where Andrew lives and Balt, there is an
auto electric shop. My guy retired and had an auction of his stuff.
I have had good luck with used since then. If i had to pay for
labor, I would certainly buy one reman by Bosch in a yeller box with
red printing.
The only reman I bought was an advanced auto rebuilt alt. maybe 10-12
years ago. It did just fine. they local guys will use quality
parts, where the reman shops will cut corners so long as they return
rate does not get too high. Bosch reman is supposed to be same as
new quality, but there have been problems reported here.
Oh! I'll take that back. I had to buy reman starters for daughter's
107 and for my original SDL, but someone else installed because it
was miserably cold. Both were bosch reman. One is still going many
many moons later, the other lasted until the car went away a few
years later.
