Randy. My recollections are the same.
I had the steering box replaced on the 1987 300TD and, after about a week, the PS started moaning on turns, low oil. Mobil 1 ATF replaced the std. p/s fluid and the leakage slowed to once every couple of months or so. Now it has gone 3.5 months and is still half full. YMMV. Fred Moir. Lynn MA. Diesel preferred. ________________________________ From: Mercedes <mercedes-boun...@okiebenz.com> on behalf of Randy Bennell via Mercedes <mercedes@okiebenz.com> Sent: 24 April 2017 11:47 To: Mercedes Discussion List Cc: Randy Bennell Subject: Re: [MBZ] WAS RESTORED ** 1979 - NOW oil issues I have a vague recollection that Marshall Booth said that switching to synthetic oil might make an engine leak more at the outset, but that it would be fine after some time. Anyone else recall this or am I lost in space?
