What is the wake up signal?  Just a high/low voltage or some sort of digital code?  If it is just a voltage, whatever it is just give it some electrons of the proper flavor.

The only difference is the third connector that the CANBUS signals come in on.
One is power, another ground, and the third a “wake up” signal. There are
signals for the steering wheel controls (CAN-high, CAN-low), too, but I don’t
care about those and I don’t see them having any effect on the radio’s
operation.

I’m just wondering how I can spoof the wake up signal, or if it’s even
necessary.

I haven’t dug into the console on the 98 yet to see if there’s a third
connector. There should be since it’s got a CD changer.

I’ve got a spare BE 3309 I can slap on it just to see. I’ll probably try that
today when I have a minute.

I have radios of both varieties on the shelf. I had thought about seeing if the
new style would work in place of the old in an older 210
