fail. I tend to pitch electrical components and get another one. I don'town a range of soldering irons and equipment appropriate forelectronics. I don't do Automatic trans either. Just choices I have made.
I have one soldering iron, I've had it since I was in high school. I must admit that there is tremendous satisfaction in effecting a component-level repair rather than swapping out a new subassembly. I don't do AT's either. -- Jim
