It’s their choice. I dealt with that when I was a field tech with the school system. Cheap bastards gave you two choices: Accept their paltry mileage reimbursement on a monthly basis, or just put in for it yourself with your taxes. I did both, which seemed to confuse them. I claimed the difference between what they paid and the IRS reimbursement. It wasn’t much, but it was a matter of principle.
