If the frybrid is $2300, and a halfway decent 190d (non-turbo) is $2300 (that's very close to what I paid for my 190E 2.3-16v), I'd go for the 190D. Even if we're talking $5-6k for a 300d 2.5, I'd be leaning towards the car. A good used Cummins motor costs more than a non-pristine 190d if something goes wrong with the veggie conversion. I'm with you on VW pricing. I wanted a turbo Jetta, circa 1986, but a useable one would have cost twice what I paid for my 300SD, and that's what got me started with MBZ back in 2002. Mitch
