MB never put a 2 speed or 3 speed auto in a car.
No, our 450 SL has one. So far as I know, all MB automatics were four-speeds with a fluid coupler. I thought they put the 3-speeds into the V8 cars, but they had a torque converter to make up for the lack of first gear. (Our SL will do about 60 in first.) Later they went to four-speeds with the TC. -- Jim
