If there is enough airflow the furnace should be able to run 
indefinitely.  As far as a pedal powered fan, your gas furnace (unless 
it is fairly old) probably has an electric exhaust fan and an electric 
igniter.  The controls (gas valve, etc) are also electric.  Running it 
off of a generator shouldn't be a problem, but just using your own fan 
wouldn't work out that well...
