Luther - Like Kaleb said, I would be certain that you have a source of
medical insurance and retirement. You are into fairly high risk activity,
so even a disability policy would be a good idea. Get back to me if you
think you are going to need it. I fought with my disability company for
three years prior to a settlement. There are some things you will need to
know. SSD is pretty poor also. Had I not had a private pension [very safe
- all funds already in the bank for my full lifetime pension] I would be in
bad shape now. I didn't worry too much about healthcare when I was younger,
now we would be spending about $1,200 - $2,000/month for MD's, cardiac
procedures and Rx if I didn't have very good insurance. We will have out of
pocket of about $1,500 this year instead. If you can make huge $$$ doing
home repair and can put enough away for retirement and will not ever get
sick or injured, then insurance won't matter too much. Seems to me you said
you were single. You could always do what I did and marry someone who has
great family insurance through her work.

Im assuming you have health insurance etc with your real job. My
advice, dont give that up. I have been self employed for many years,
having that insurance is very nice, along with the 401k etc.
