To be honest, I do not subscribe to the 'less is more' approach wrt to user preferences. As long as they are logically structured (and I agree we can always do better there) imho, it does not hurt to have one more option available. However, I do think less is more with the main user interface (ie, the one you are hopefully mainly using). And I think our defaults are a little of. For example we show every dock we have on a clean install while I would prefer we show two at most. Likewise, one day we will need to rethink the properties dock. For example i think having lat/lon displayed for a node is not necessary and clutters the screen. Better to move the functionality to see/change a node's position (something I do very rarely) to some seperate dialog box with 'extended' editing. Btw, I think an extended guided editing dialog box is imho the number one feature missing. Admittedly I base this on a use sample of one -> my father who has limited interest in understanding the detailed MapFeatures page but who still would enter more details like speed limits opening hours and what not if he would get a simple line edit in which he can type 60 kph. > Under linux I can do "LANG=C merkaartor" and get all of merkaartor in > english - is there something similar for Windows? Sorry, that way lies madness imho :) cu bart _______________________________________________ Merkaartor mailing list [email protected] http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/merkaartor
