The current version of the thinkpad_acpi module in the kernel has support for 
the tablet swivel switch.


At least some Thinkpad models seem to work -- the X61 for instance seems to 
use a serial Wacom stylus.

Other Thinkpad models include "multitouch" tablets, which seem to be only 
supported experimentally:

As long as you get a model that also includes an alternate mouse input 
(touchpad, touchpoint) then at least you'll have another method of mouse input 
in case you aren't able to get the tablet input working.
