I agree with most all responses. I would give my first born to be offered FIOS in my area...
I have downloaded some files from FIOS customers and sustained download speeds (their upload speeds) which made me quiver. I also ran a web/mail server from home. After power outages and other uptime related issues I looked into VPS solutions. The final straw was accumulating domains increased pay services for my dynamic address workaround. This made it a no brainer to get a VPS for ten bucks a month. Linode at $20/month had nice added features like creating VPS images, but was just over my tight budget. If I ever move, I'd be hard pressed to move to a location with only one high speed internet provider. Odd thing about Time Warner.... I have had a couple dynamic address with port 80 closed and others that were not. In my opinion why upgrade at $15 per month so you can run a server at home, if you can get a VPS for the same money with no added electric or wear and tear on hardware, not to mention the greater uptime.
