Assumes that the Miata hard line is standard/US and not metric size.   
I believe I ran into this problem trying to do the same thing on a FD  
RX-7.  Better double-check the OD/ID measurements on it.

You also have to cut off the bead which sort of wigged me out.  How  
to cut it effectively without generating sparks (hacksaw?).  If the  
lines are dry and off the car, you should be pretty safe with any  
cutting apparatus.
