I've heard folks recommend just before the throttle body and other say the
intercooler outlet. I placed mine at the IC outlet. Nice thick aluminum
there for tapping. :-)

You could put it at ic outlet. IIRC, aquamist claims closer to TB is
better for detonation control, farther away is better for cooling.
Really, cooling is not such an issue, but the more timing you can run by
artificially raising your octane the better off you are. On the
Westfield, I'm probably 2" upstream from the IAT now. For the guys out
there familiar with their timing maps under boost and how octane limited
they are, I am running 19 degrees at torque peak at 16.5 psi with no
knock on 91 octane and I haven't even put it on the dyno yet to see how
far we can go. We do have a customer making well over 500 rwhp on 93
pump gas with water/methanol, running 21 degrees at torque peak at 27
psi. To compare, at 12 psi on our crap gas with no WI, typically down to
12 degrees or so at TQ peak.

Since that SS pipe is fairly short the WI nozzle would only be 1-2
inches pre- AIT sensor - is that too close? Is there any downside to
relocating the AIT sensor to the intake manifold? Heat soak?

Alternatively, is there a reason not to place the WI nozzle near the IC
outlet?

Thanks,
Mike
